inspiration in your thinking?

Take this as it is - whatever your plane of inspiration is - this is the question of the month:

“Nevertheless, we find that our thinking will, as
time passes, be more and more on the plane of inspiration.” (Alcoholics
Anonymous page 87) What are some examples of inspiration in your
thinking?”

Let see… starting to see things from my wife’s point of view. We went to a Family Life retreat a while back and the big light bulb for me was to “embrace the differences” - all of a sudden I could let a lot of the little things go and see her as she is - not what I think she should be. It so freed me to love her more.

The “let’s change jobs” bogeyman came up in the last few months and thank God I had my pattern of changing things every 2 years or so pointed out to me the last time I did it. I am set where I work and a big change is NOT needed right now.

Going back to church and AA meetings - I was embarrassed and ashamed and just wanted to hide after I relapsed - but after a few weeks I began to hear again and that is some inspired thinking going into me.

I am back. What a long strange trip it has been! I finished the interferon treatment at Halloween - what a mind trip. That stuff will mess your mind as well as your body. I was withdrawn and depressed and seperated from everyone and anyone - including God. My ex-soon to be remarried-wife had gallstones and gall bladder surgery and 2 big jars of painkillers that I got into for about 3 weeks. So - after 11 years and one month clean and sober I have 35 days.

Actually really doing pretty good. Had to reconnect with God, my sponsor, my therapist, friends,wife and you guys. So - please pray for me - I had fallen away (again) and really want the joy and peace back. So glad you are all still here.

First Day

so - I am about 10 hours into my first treatment. It seemed like no big deal until about 3 this afternoon when I got the first fever. Man! I don’t think I have ever been so cold except in Alaska. But Motrin knocks it down pretty good. I just feel achy and feverish like the flu - but, as my wife says, thank God we live in a time where there is medicine for it! And if you have to have the “flu” it is not too bad, no coughing or head full of snot. Just feel a little weird.

I really am grateful that this has all come together and I have all the MLM people to talk to also. I pray for all of you. This fellowship has helped me immensely! Thanks!

I am starting Interferon treatment for Hepatitis
C on Friday morning the 4th of May. This has been a concern for over 5 years since I was first diagnosed. I waited for some time to consider treatment, then moved, changed jobs, etc that prevented me from starting treatment. Well, the time has come - with the insurance, support, job, everything in place and I don’t have any more excuses. I have a 80 to 90% chance of being cured, compared to a 30% of dying of cirrhosis or liver cancer within the next 20 years. Pretty easy choice - I want to see my grandkids!
I went to communion service and had
the elders and pastors lay hands on me. I am praying for the side
effects to not disable me - they can vary from minimal to extreme and
we wont know until I get the first shot tomorrow. I don’t pray to have
the disease removed - I have it because of things I did in the past -
just that the treatment will be successful and I will still be there
for my kids, wife, work, and friends.
The treatment is very expensive even with insurance - almost
$1000 a month for 6 months and God has already shown me his hand in
making THAT work - so I think it is all going as he planned.

What an amazing concept. The Message bible has reopened scripture for me!

I love to read it and those verses I have heard a million times that kinda float by without sticking are new and profound again. (Well, the Holy Spirit might have a little to do with it :] )

So - things are much better at work - the boss got put on administrative leave and is going to drug treatment so the workplace is much better - a lot of changes but for the better.

So I prayed real hard and found peace over the weekend - then my pastor preaches on the love of Christ and assigned 7 passages as homework this week - what a change of heart the Lord has given me. I am not being transferred, got a special dispensation to have my cell phone on the job (because the bosses call me all the time even though “officially” no cell phones) had some payroll discrepancies resolved, and had a great week so far. What is really amazing is that I realize I have disrespected this boss and am praying for a way to offer him help with his drug and spiritual problem.

Have
to share with you. You see, I have a work situation where my site superintendent
(in construction) is doing drugs and has been neglecting his duties.
Today I had to leave work because I was so upset about finding out I
was being transferred to another work site - the boss is clearing out
everyone that has opposed him and went to the owners about what has
been going on. I have been prideful and arrogant in the process and
need to repent and do my work “unto the Lord”.

I am doing well and growing in Jesus every day.
I have a lot of changes to make: got 60 days without smoking and am
asking God to help me with my bad language at work. My ex-wife and I
will probably remarry within a year or so. So awesome to feel the holy spirit working in me - haven’t had that experience since I was 18 or 19 years old. What a long strange trip it has been.
