Building a Mystery
George Bernard Shaw said “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
Building a Mystery by Sarah McLaughlin
She said in an interview that the song is about how we tend to build mystery around ourselves, how we put on things to identify us in an attempt to make ourselves unique. In the song she takes this to an absurdity. She says that all the time we do this we are actually putting on the someone else’s idea of who we should be. Degrading our uniqueness rather than increasing it. Throwing off false identities reveals us.
I dont know if she is a christian or not (i tend to beleive she is based on some other songs she has written) but I am going to do a show about putting on the identity of Christ. The fruit.
