MC #51 MOTHERS DAY
May 13th, 2007 by micharlie
“Mothers Day!”
Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Exodus 21:15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
Exodus And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
Julia Ward Howe wrote the Mother’s Day Proclamation in 1870, as a call for peace and disarmament. An excerpt follows:
“From the voice of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with
Our own. It says: “Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice.”
Blood does not wipe out dishonor,
Nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil at the summons of war,
Let women now leave all that may be left of home
For a great and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace…
Here is a poem written by a great poet Annie-Leigh Rose Munroe age 11
i love you more than sunshine
i love you more than rain
if youre the best mum in the world
every one else must be so lame
i just wanna tell you that you rock, you rule
and every one should be jealous
’cause youre the best in school
you wash my clothes, tickles my toes
and you made my middle-name rose
you sing songs with me, you go for walks with me
and now cant you see that you belong to me ….
DO NOT COPYRIGHT THIS POEM.
