Spoilers for movies, give at least two ta three weeks after opening weekend if it is a big movie (nobody wanted to hear about spoilers from the dark knight two weeks after its opening). smaller movies (like a recent new one KNOWING) check out the box office opening weekend, and then if its small enough and you've already seen it talk about it, nobodies going to see it so it should be fine.
Spoilers from tv shows should be a little different. Series/season finales should not be talked about until at least a month after its aired (gives people who are behind a chance to catch up, tv shows can take a while to catch up on, thats why a month). shows throughout the season can be discussed at will, unless there is some kind of major turning point in an episode that sets the stage for what happens after that episode. those ones should be about a week so that people can at least have a week to see that one episode.
Spoilers for books falls under the spoilers for movies. big books, give it a little time. smaller books that no one is really reading, go ahead and talk about it. this also goes for video games, though there really arent that many games out that have spoilers to them, so there we go.
