Charles this is really cool. I am ashamed to say that this is the first time I have looked at this post. You are making a difference in these peoples lives and still giving them dignity in the fact that they are helping themselves to a better life. What do we do? Do we contact Kiva on the link and make a payment to them and then they decide who to loan to or can you pick who you want to loan to? My wife and I will consider doing this as well as maintaining our two Compassion child sponserships. Here is a picture of them. Janet from Tanzania and Peterson from Haiti.

Ok, I know that you see this different then I do, but I do have to ask a question. The way that I see things in the Christian world is that if God is telling you to help someone then you help them, you don't loan to them, you help by giving. The Bible talks about giving more then loaning. So, my question is why does Kiva do loans and not just qualify the people with which people like yourself can give to further the business.

I am sure that we see differently on this, but I am curious as to your thoughts.

I think that the person recieving the loan would be more apt to work harder if it was a loan, than a free money donation. Most business minded people like to see their business running free from debt, thus they work harder to achieve a debt free business. If KIVA was to just hand the money away, than the receivers might not work as hard to keep the business running. Plus loaning the money vs giving it away keeps the money being recycled, so in a way it is a loan/gift that keeps on giving. Just a side question........I am slow, so don't go duh Tina.........but this money that Chaz has loaned out..........is that MLM money or Chaz's money. Not that it matters, but I think it is cool that we as a community are doing this, if that is the case.

I think that Tina raised an excellent question, too.

Also a good point, and a good question Tina. There is nothing wrong with asking that. :)

I assumed it was Chaz's money, but now that I think about it I don't recall if he said. It is a really good question.
